DEMAGNETIZATION

DEMAGNETIZATION

The process of removing the magnetic fields of force from a magnetized substance. Demagnetization can be accomplished by (1) heating to a red heat, (2)

by violent jarring, or (3) by holding the magnetized substance in the magnetic field of a solenoid operated on alternating current, and then gradually removing it.
