A large group of copper, zinc, and tin alloys. In general, these constituents are distributed in the following range: copper, 70% to 90%; zinc, 1% to 25%, and tin 1% to 18%. Manganese and phosphorus are sometimes added to act as deoxidizing agents. Bronze alloys have been used since ancient times for making castings, coins, and ornaments.
