BORON CARBIDE

(Chemical symbol: B&). A very hard compound produced by heating boric acid (B2O3) and coke together at about 2500°C (5430”F), used on an abrasive cutting tool when extreme hardness is required. At ordinary temperatures, boron carbide is highly resistant to chemical reagents.
