An electrode with a positive charge; the electron collecting electrode of an electron tube in an electric circuit. The anode is the terminal on which oxygen gas collects in an electrolytic oxygen-hydrogen generator. It is the terminal of a primary cell, or of a storage battery when it is delivering current.
